The non-alcoholic Cuba Libre
A refreshing and accessible version
A non-alcoholic Cuba Libre must retain the same sweet, tangy, and slightly woody flavours as the original.
The non-alcoholic Cuba Libre is an excellent alternative for those who want to enjoy this iconic cocktail without its alcoholic effects. As long as the balance between the sweetness of the cola, the acidity of the lime, and the depth of the "rum" is respected, the spirit of the Cuba Libre remains intact.
So, classic version or non-alcoholic, what do you choose?
A historic and revolutionary cocktail
The Cuba Libre is much more than just a simple mix of rum and cola; it is a historical symbol. Born at the end of the 19th century, it is closely linked to Cuba's war of independence against Spain.
Legend has it that in 1900, after the victory of the Cuban and American forces, an officer of the American army ordered a mix of Cuban rum, American cola, and lime in a bar in Havana.
As he raised his glass, he reportedly shouted "¡Por Cuba libre!" (For a free Cuba!), the slogan of the Cuban insurgents, and thus, the cocktail was born.
Since then, the Negroni has become a staple in cocktail bars around the world, appreciated for its perfect balance of bitterness, sweetness, and aromatic complexity.
